Meet Alesa

Wife of more than 30 years. Mom of adult children who recently turned me into a K-pop fan. Coffee connoisseur. And a child of the ’80s who still loves a good mall.

The brain behind the behavior

I'm endlessly curious about people—especially the brain behind the behavior.

I want to understand what makes us do the things we do, why certain patterns stick around, and why knowing what we should do doesn't always make doing it any easier.

I'm particularly interested in neuroscience, ADHD and executive functioning in women, and how challenges with attention, time, organization, regulation, and follow-through can have a compounding effect across work, relationships, home, and the mental load of everyday life.

How I got here

Before becoming a therapist, I spent 20 years in ministry and worked in education, including time as a school counselor.

I've spent much of my career listening to people, asking questions, teaching, and helping make sense of complicated situations. All of that still shows up in the way I work today.

What I'm like in the therapy room

I'm probably going to make you laugh. I'm definitely going to ask questions.

I'll hold space for what you're going through, and I'll also hold you accountable to what you tell me matters to you.

Sometimes therapy is challenging. We may talk about something you've been avoiding, notice a pattern you don't particularly like, or try something that feels unfamiliar. But hard doesn't have to mean hopeless.

Even when we do difficult work, I want you to leave seeing possibility—something you understand differently, something you can try, or some reason to believe things don't have to stay exactly as they are.

Hard doesn't have to mean hopeless.
